Activists highlight access problems on Bangkok’s MRT and Skytrain rail networks

Activists fighting for accessibility in Thailand have convened recently to discuss progress in improving access to Bangkok’s BTS system as well as the MRT line. While some progress has been made, lifts are still missing from many BTS stations and while the MRT has lifts at each station, sometimes there is only one requiring those in need to cross dangerous intersections to reach them. Other issues include people abusing lifts, causing staff to lock them making them unavailable for those who need them most. A list of proposals was made, as well as discussions about future media events to help raise awareness of this problem.
